DARNELL: Martinsville Ignited Top-10 Streak in 2006~TruckSeries.com Report

Series:  NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (Race 21 of 25)
Track:  Martinsville Speedway (.526-mile oval)
Event: Kroger 200
Date: October 20, 2007, 3:00 PM EDT
Coverage: SPEED – 2:30 PM EDT
Distance: 200 laps/ 105.2 miles
Qualifying: October 20, 2007, 11:10 AM EDT
Chassis: RK245-35

Erik Darnell will make his fourth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday afternoon in the No. 99 Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150.

Despite finishing 29th after being involved in an accident at Talladega two weeks ago, the No. 99 team remains eighth in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points, 404 markers behind fifth place Johnny Benson.

The No. 99 team will be bringing chassis RK245-35 to Martinsville.  This chassis last raced at O’Reilly Raceway Park, where Darnell started 14th and finished seventh.

The second Martinsville race of last year kicked off a five race streak where Darnell never finished outside the top-10.  The sophomore driver hopes to repeat that trend in the final five races of 2007.

ERIK DARNELL ON MARTINSVILLE:
“Martinsville is not one of my favorite tracks, but we’ve had some good runs there.  We had a rough race in the spring, but I think we’ll be better this time around.  Martinsville is a very demanding track, and track position is everything.  It’s important to get a good qualifying effort in and stay up front all race long.”

MATT PUCCIA (CREW CHIEF) ON MARTINSVILLE: “We had a hard finish two weeks ago at Talladega, but we’ve put that behind us and it’s on to Martinsville.  We tested at Caraway last week, which should help us for this weekend.  Erik has run well at Martinsville in the past, and I think we’re capable of contending for the win this weekend.”
